Abidjan, 11 Nov 2023 - On Friday 10 November 2023, a dozen children aged 6 to 14 were given an insight into the circuit and process of water treatment from the Mé river for domestic consumption.
The visit to the plant at the headquarters of the Société ivoirienne des eaux et de l'environnement (SIEE) near the village of Kongofon, in the sub-prefecture of Brofodoumé, was organised by the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, in collaboration with UNICEF, to mark Universal Children's Day on 20 November, according to report.
Staff from the operation and supervision department of the Mé water treatment plant showed their guests how river water is treated, from the point of delivery through the pipes to the technical gallery of filters, which produces the finished drinking water product.
Clearly delighted by this discovery, the little ones improvised a spontaneous songs, sketches and dance steps.
